Update | June 2017
Guten Tag from the Strebes!
We just wrapped up our last Club of the semester and topped it off with an end-of-the-year party with our high school friends. Getting ministry up and running in Ramstein has had its challenges over the past few months, but the semester ended on a high note with our students, and we’re looking forward to seeing our relationships with them continue to grow.
Now that school’s out, we are in prep mode for our upcoming high school Summer Camp. This year we will be taking students to Cairn Brae, a Young Life camp property in Scotland! We can’t wait to share Young Life camping with our high school friends. We currently have 14 students signed up in our community, and we’re praying for more!
After what has seemed like ages, we have new IDs! We have received new SOFA cards (military work visa) and privilege cards, and are currently waiting on base access cards (we know, complicated, right?). This means that:
- We’re covered for living in Germany (SOFA = allowed to live in Germany).
- We get to continue to utilize services on base (Privilege card = post office, gas, commissary, exchange, etc.).
- We’re waiting for the final puzzle piece: base access cards (which we need to actually get on base).
- Josh is finally able to leave his part-time job at Service Credit Union and he’ll be back to just ONE full-time job!
His last day at SCU is Monday, June 26th, in time to have some breathing room before summer camp at the beginning of July.
In other news, we celebrated our third anniversary at the end of May with a hiking weekend in Luxembourg. We spent two days hiking 36 km (about 22 mi) of the Müllerthal Trail, a gorgeous 112 km (about 69 mi) trek through the Müllerthal region on the eastern border of Luxembourg, just an hour’s drive from our home. This was our first big hike together—which was so fun!—but also in preparation for a multi-day hike we’re taking with friends at the end of June in Denmark. Into the wild we go!
Please pray for:
- Military teens and their families stationed around the world.
- Military families who are PCSing (moving) — between 4,000 and 6,000 families at our base alone are transitioning in/out.
- Club Beyond High School Summer Camp at the beginning of July in Scotland—for safe transit, health, and presence of the Holy Spirit.
- Our relationships with teens and their families in our community.
- Those who have been affected by the recent acts of terror around the world.
- Our continued physical, emotional, and spiritual health.
