Nesting

The threads of our life are slowly settling. Piece by piece, we’re setting up our new home and finally learning how to live in Belgium.

We are in love with our new home. It’s a freestanding home in a little farm town on the outskirts of Brussels. There’s a private garden, cellar, modern plumbing, two bedrooms, a finished attic, and TWO toilets (which is a big deal).

In other news, Josh finally received his final clearance…. HOORAY! We are both now completely cleared to be around Army* kids. Josh’s last background check cleared just in time for us to help with our chapel’s Vacation Bible School. We were even able to have some of our middle school students serve with us!

Now that our pile of paperwork and hoops to jump through are dwindling, we’re gearing up for the start of the school year. Josh is preparing to be an assistant football coach (as long as there are enough students to make a team). The end of August marks the beginning of back-to-school festivities at Brussels American School, and we can’t wait to finally spend time with the students.

Please pray for the students at BAS, that the Lord would prepare the way for Him to move through their hearts over the course of this year. The Army regulations are constantly changing and becoming more restrictive, which may make ministry extremely difficult in the months to come. We would also love prayer for our health (harvest time in tiny farm town = lots of dust and allergies).

Friends and family, thank you all for your continued support and prayer during this crazy settling process. We have been so blessed by your faithfulness!

“More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.” — Romans 5:3-5

*BAS is considered an Army school because it’s an extension of the U.S. Army Garrison in Brussels. So all students that attend BAS are considered Army students, regardless of whether they are Air Force dependents, Navy dependents, etc.
